OVERVIEW

QUANTIL is looking for an Architect - Service Reliability Engineering to support engineering operations for our global CDN and cloud systems as well as internal infrastructures. This is a hands-on role, leading and managing the operations team and taking a personal role in defining technical solutions. You approach operations & infrastructure management with a software engineering mindset to be efficient at scaling and are passionate about treating “operations” as a product.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking ownership of all aspects of our Infrastructure and be responsible for all setup, provisioning, security, configuration, and administration
  • The design, setup & maintenance of the core infrastructure that runs our online business
  • Designing and building automation frameworks for software development, testing, deploying, managing, and monitoring services
  • Define standards for product development to ensure all products meet requirements for fast deployment, high availability, scalability and monitorability
  • Optimizing existing product architectures to take advantage of programmable infrastructure to scale, to be highly available and define best practices
  • Supporting the whole platform, using technical analysis to improve the reliability and scalability of the whole system
  • Creating initiatives around automation, efficiency, consistency in order to scale and support more products

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in an Operations role in ISP, IaaS, PaaS or SaaS industries
  • 4+ years proven excellence building and leading teams (preferably with a blend of start-up and large scale companies)
  • 4+ years’ Linux server administration experience - deep understanding of Unix/Linux
  • Hands-on scripting and coding experience with Python, Shell scripting, etc.
  • C++, Java, and GoLang experience is a big plus
  • Extensive relational and NoSQL database experience
  • Extensive network knowledge about TCP/IP protocol suites, network security, and experience with tools like Wireshark, dig, curl, etc.
  • Working experience in one or more of following areas will be a big plus:
  • Public/Private Cloud platforms, i.e., AWS, Google App Engine, Azure
  • Configuration management tools, i.e., Ansible, Puppet, etc.
  • Commercial or open source monitoring systems, i.e., Nagios, Zabbix, Open Falcon, etc.
  • Automated deployment/ Continuous Integration tools, i.e., Maven, Jenkins, SVN, GitHub, etc.
  • Virtualization and Linux containers, i.e., KVM, Docker, etc.
  • Cluster management/orchestration software, i.e., Mesos, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Big data processing, i.e., Apache Kafka, Storm, Hadoop, Spark etc.
  • Web server and HTTP proxy servers, i.e., Tomcat, Nginx, Squid etc.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, presentation, documentation, troubleshooting, and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Passion for agile, test-driven development, and automation
